About Us

What is BIA

B.I.A. - Biologically Intelligent Agroecology;

BIA is “Food” in Celtic

BIA Forest or Food Forest

What We Do

We are designing & trialing regenerative scalable Food Forest models for different climates of the USA. Food Forests allow one to grow perennial and annual plants closely together in multi-stories within their natural climate profile, in symbiosis with each other, the environment, and the living entities around them.

Why

We are developing these Food Forest models to generate climate-resilient year-long income for farmers, which incentivizes sustainability over generations, securing large Carbon sinks, while also providing healthy food sources and food security for local communities.

Who We Are

Gopal Farm, a NY-based sustainable Agri organization, has since 2016 conceived, funded, and incubated these Food Forests on its NY & FL farmlands. To streamline the growing opportunity and complexity of the Food Forests, Gopal Farm has founded :

Bia Forest Institute, a NY non-profit, designs and trials the Food Forests in different climates. It will research food processing, marketing & distribution hubs for these Climate Smart crops.

It aims to provide service to implement and transform existing mono-crop farmlands.

Why in USA?

Our initial projects are focused in the US because these efforts will be more efficiently helped and be accessible & verifiable by US-based investors, foundations, climate programs, academia, media, and policymakers.

The USA also has a wide variety of climates, so we can create many models for Food Forests that can be extrapolated to most of the climatic regions in the world. We thereby intend to influence a change in agriculture methodology around our increasingly fragile planet.
